GENERAL INFORMATION:

Usually refers to severe pain in the abdomen that comes and goes in paroxysms during dentition in children. Crying in children is frequently a sign of colic caused by spasmodic contractions of the bowel due to accumulation of gas, which has either come from swallowing air or from fermentation of the contents of the intestine.

The are many possible causes for colic, wrong feeding being the common one. Giving too much sugar or sweets is a common mistake and also overfeeding or irregular feeding. Hasty drinking of milk or bolting of other food may be followed by colic. Undigested food in the intestinal tract can also cause trouble.Generally constipation results in gas, producing pain in bowel walls.

Frequent attack of colic require correction of feeding programme.It is essential to select right food, to prepare it properly and to give it at regular times.Constipation should be overcome by right feeding and not by laxatives.

1.Chamomilla: Commonly known as 'Bitter Chamomile'. It is an annual herb with large woody fibrous roots found in India, Asia and Europe. It is useful for toothache in children during teething period with colicky pains. 

2.Calcarea Phosphorica: It is a 'Phosphate of Lime'. It appears as white amorphous crystalline powder obtained by purifying bone ash. It is useful for problems of dentition due to calcium deficiency. 

3.Belladonna: Also known as 'Sag Angur' or 'Deadly Nightshade', Atropa Belladonna is a perennial herb distributed in Central & South Europe. It is useful for throbbing pain in teeth during dentition associated with severe colicky pains.

4.Kreosotum: Also known as 'Creosote'. It is a product of distillation of wood tar, consists of mixture of phenols. It is useful in children with painful dentition who can't sleep with colic. It is also useful in rapid decay of teeth with spongy bleeding gums and dark crumbly teeth.

5.Silicea: Commonly known as 'Pure Flint' or 'Silica'. It appears as a white amorphous, tasteless and odourless powder. It is useful in dentition for gum infections, which are sensitive to cold air and boils on gums. It is also useful for abscess at root of teeth and sensitivity to cold water. 
DOSE:

1.Chamomilla 8x
2.Calcarea Phosphorica 10x
3.Belladonna 8x
4.Kreosotum 12x
5.Silicea 10x
SYMPTOMATOLOGY:

DOSE:

1 to 2 drops three times a day.
Sprinkle the dose in a teaspoon and take directly or dilute in 1/2 cup water.
